It was a chilly December evening when a group of fellow journeyers gathered to watch a movie that would teach them something about themselves … and wonder how it was ever shown in Matt’s ninth grade biology class. That’s right, The Night has returned. While it may not be every week, it was this week, and very well could be next. So let’s start the list once again …
$results = $wpdb->get_results( “SELECT * FROM tbl_80s WHERE take = 2 ORDER BY movie_viewed_date DESC” );
My former roommate (Pete Von Tobel) and I have entertained some of the finest of individuals that live in one of the finest cities of this country. They have been treated to a virtual and actual cornucopia of classic films and food. The feature films have brought us closer together and made us better people. (Almost) Every Sunday night we met to study history – a history in which we have lived. We may have forgotten much of this history. We may have never seen this history. We learned much about ourselves. Personally, I learned that I must have been a very troubled youth to enjoy Howard the Duck.
A Eulogy of Sorts
It was the best of times (Midnight Madness). It was the worst of times (Howard the Duck). A big thanks goes out to all of you who made 80’s Movie Night such a great tradition. But like all great traditions, except death and taxes, this too must fade away to make way for something new. Consider this the fall season that will break way to a peaceful winter that will break way to a spring … of new tradition. Not too unlike the actual fall season that leads to winter that is promptly followed by spring. Summer is next for all of you who are wondering. To quote the Byrds,
To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven
Well, this season has come to an end. Feel free to read through these annals of history, remembering the good times.
Good night and farewell.
The list you see here is the wheel on which the clay of our friendship and community was molded. In other (much less cheesy) words, these are the movies we watched:
$results = $wpdb->get_results( “SELECT * FROM tbl_80s WHERE take = 1 ORDER BY movie_viewed_date DESC” );
